COURSE DESCRIPTION
Ever look at a great piece of lettering and wonder what makes it work—and how you could channel those ideas into something original? In this workshop, you’ll learn how to analyze and remix real-world lettering inspiration—from vintage packaging and signage to logos, advertising, and ephemera—into fresh hand-drawn work of your own.
We’ll begin by examining the underlying systems behind existing letterforms so you can gain a deeper understanding of how lettering is constructed and arranged. Next, you’ll use those insights to create original wordmarks and logos that span a wide array of visual expression. We’ll break down key stylistic traits, identify recurring patterns, and explore how to adapt those ideas without merely copying reference material. Think of it as reverse-engineering timeless letterforms to fuel your own original work.
Through in-depth presentations, guided drawing demos, and a FREE illustrated PDF guidebook, you’ll learn how to decode lettering styles so you can expand your stylistic range. Add the bonus workbook packed with hands-on exercises to further refine your lettering skills.
Whether you’re designing logos, developing brand identities, creating packaging, making posters, designing apparel, or simply looking to enrich your creative palette, this workshop will help you sharpen your eye, broaden your stylistic vocabulary, and bring new energy to your lettering practice.
