COURSE DESCRIPTION
French Script is a timeless cursive style with centuries of history and a surprisingly modern yet playful feel. In this fun, informative workshop, you’ll learn how to draw stylish French Script lettering that can be applied to a wide range of projects—including logos, restaurant identities, boutique branding, book jackets, T-shirt graphics, wedding invitations, and more. As a practical takeaway, we’ll draw a greeting-card worthy message to explore how the style works in a finished composition.
Also known as ronde (meaning “round”), French Script is known for its upright posture, clean lines, and flowing rhythm. While historically written with a broad pen, contemporary commercial versions are carefully constructed and drawn by hand. Through an instructional presentation, you’ll gain a clear understanding of how French Script letters are built, joined, and embellished with flourishes to add a touch of personality and charm.
You'll then put those ideas into practice during an info-packed, hands-on demonstration, where we'll draw a complete French Script composition together. Along the way, you’ll learn practical methods for sizing, spacing, and customizing cursive letterforms—critical lettering skills that you can apply well beyond this workshop.
You’ll receive a FREE illustrated PDF guidebook, with the option to add a bonus workbook featuring additional lettering concepts and drawing exercises so you can continue to build your French Script skills.
